Description

Peel Away® 1 is a premier, heavy-duty paint removal product formulated to remove up to 30 layers of paints and coatings in a single application. Peel Away ® 1 is engineered to remove oil, alkyd, and lead-based paints and other older coatings from most surfaces. Best of all, it penetrates to the bottom layer and performs even when the top layers are latex, acrylic, or epoxy, as long as the bottom layer is an oil, alkyd or lead-based coating. Peel Away® 1 is NOT engineered to work if the only coatings are latex, acrylic, or epoxy.

The Peel Away® 1 kit includes a paste that is spread over the surface to be stripped and then covered with Peel Away® paper to control evaporation. The paste should be allowed to dwell on the coatings for 12-48 hours depending upon the number of layers, types of coatings being removed and surface temperature. After appropriate dwell time, the paste and softened paint can be removed using a scraper. Any remaining residue can be removed with a sponge and water or a power washer. Finally, Peel Away ® 1 is an alkaline paste and must be neutralized before the surface can be recoated. Citri-lize ® Neutralizer is included in the kit.

Peel Away® 1 does not contain methylene chloride or NMP. This paint removal process controls airborne lead dust on renovation or remediation projects.
